On September 6th, the Russian Central Bank announced that it will extend the restrictions on the withdrawal of foreign currency cash until March 9, 2025. On March 7th, the Russian Central Bank announced that the restrictions on the withdrawal of foreign currency cash will be extended for another 6 months to September 9, 2024. The Russian Central Bank also extended the measures prohibiting banks from charging fees for foreign currency withdrawals for 6 months. The Russian Central Bank has implemented foreign currency cash withdrawal restrictions since March 9, 2022, including prohibiting individuals from withdrawing more than $10,000 in cash from foreign currency deposits or foreign currency accounts. Since then, the Russian Central Bank has extended the restrictions every six months.
