According to an internal communication about the New York Attorney General's subpoena seen by Coindesk and two people familiar with the matter, New York Attorney General Letitia James has joined the regulatory offensive against cryptocurrency trading platform Uniswap.
Last month, Letitia James' office issued subpoenas to a number of venture capital firms that had invested in Uniswap, including Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Union Square Ventures, two sources said.
"Letitia James appears to be following in the footsteps of Securities Exchange Commission chairperson Gensler and using cryptocurrencies as a political punching bag," said one person who has seen the subpoena, speaking on condition of anonymity.
