Amazon's iconic virtual assistant, Alexa, is set for an update this October and will be powered primarily by Anthropic's Claude model, rather than its own AI, according to Reuters. Five people familiar with the matter told Reuters that there is a fee for the upgrade. Amazon will charge users $5 to $10 a month to use its updated "Premier" version of Alexa, while keeping the "Classic" version free.
