On September 2nd, Japanese listed company Metaplanet has partnered with SBI VC Trade, the crypto arm of financial services giant SBI Group, to support its efforts to continuously increase its corporate bitcoin holdings. The partnership enables Metaplanet to use SBI's escrow service, which aims to prioritize tax efficiency and offer the potential to use bitcoin as collateral for financing.
Metaplanet said it will continue to explore financial instruments that provide greater financial flexibility as the company's funding grows. Metaplanet has so far acquired 360 bitcoins ($207 million), using its main reserve asset as collateral to enhance its ability to access equity and debt financing.
