On September 1st, Michael Shellenberger, author of San Francisco magazine, wrote that yesterday the Brazilian government blocked X (formerly Twitter) and threatened to fine citizens $8,900 a day if they used the platform. Musk retweeted a solidarity tweet, saying that Twitter respects Brazilian laws, but when asked to violate them, Twitter has the right to refuse.
