On August 26, Thai authorities raided an illegal Bitcoin (BTC) mining site in Ratchaburi, west of Bangkok, on Friday. The raid came after some residents in the area complained of frequent power outages for more than a month.
According to Chanwong, records indicate that the houses raided consumed an unusually large amount of electricity. However, residents did not pay for most of the electricity consumed. During the raids, police and provincial power bureau (PEA) officials discovered that most of the mining equipment had been relocated.
No arrests were made during the raid, which was the fourth time authorities have raided an illegal bitcoin mine in the area.
