The fifth meeting of the China-Indonesia Bilateral Cooperation Joint Committee Mechanism was held in Beijing

On August 23, 2024, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno co-chaired the fifth meeting of the China-Indonesia Joint Committee on Bilateral Cooperation in Beijing. Wang Yi said that the two sides should adhere to the "four continuities". First, continue to deepen high-level exchanges, strengthen strategic communication, and prepare for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year. Second, continue to consolidate strategic mutual trust and firmly support each other in safeguarding core interests. Make good use of the "2 + 2" dialogue and cooperation to promote the building of a community with a shared future between China and Indonesia. Third, continue to expand mutually beneficial cooperation, deepen the alignment of development strategies, and lead the improvement and upgrading of practical cooperation through the joint construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative". Fourth, we will continue to enhance mutual knowledge and matchmaking, improve the level of personnel facilitation, and encourage exchanges between young people, think tanks, and media from both sides.
