据IT桔子披露数据显示，美国目前已经出现了49家围绕数字货币/区块链的独角兽，全世界有60%的区块链独角兽都诞生/注册在美国；在中国香港特区，仍诞生了3家区块链独角兽。美国热衷于探索区块链、虚拟货币，以及对人工智能、脑机接口等新技术的投资保持高涨；中国则致力于解决“卡脖子问题”，鼓励芯片半导体、新能源、新材料等硬科技的创业投资，同时完全禁止了虚拟货币赛道的萌发。
