Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Thursday that the president should have some say in interest rates and monetary policy, in his clearest statement yet on the Fed's independence, a move that would go against the central bank's longstanding practice of independence from political actors.

Mr. Trump criticised Federal Reserve chairperson Jerome Powell, saying he was "either a little too early or a little too late" in adjusting interest rates.
