The office of US special counsel David Weiss has accused Hunter Biden, son of US president Joe Biden, of accepting bribes from a Romanian businessperson who sought to "influence US government entities" while his father was vice-president, local time learned on August 7.
Prosecutor Weiss mentioned in court documents disclosed on the 7th that Hunter Biden provided legal services to Romanian businessperson Gabriel Bobovic, who was facing corruption charges at the time, in late 2015.
Weiss said Hunter Biden and his business associates received more than $3 million in compensation from Bobovic, which was paid between November 2015 and 2017.
