Wazirx informed users of the recent cyber attack, confirming that a preliminary information report (FIR) had been filed to address the hack. Wazirx co-founder Nischal Shetty wrote in X on Tuesday that "the FIR has been filed." However, many questioned the delay between the initial complaint and the filing of the FIR. On speculation as to why the FIR was filed nearly 20 days after the July 18 hack, Shetty clarified:
"We reported the cyber attack to the police the day after it occurred and have announced to everyone that it has been reported to the police. After a report, it usually takes some time to receive an FIR."
