On August 3, Hamas sources said that the Israel Defense Forces recently assassinated two Hamas Politburo leaders and three Qassam Brigade military commanders in an underground tunnel in the Gaza Strip. Among them, the two Hamas political leaders were Mushtaha and Silajeddin. It is understood that Mushtaha is responsible for the finances of the Hamas Politburo, is a close friend of Hamas leader Sinwar, and is regarded as one of the most hawkish members of the armed group. Silajeddin has served in the Hamas Politburo since 2021 and is responsible for internal security in the Gaza Strip.
