The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions Group (DFI) has launched a publicly accessible tracker to stop cryptocurrency and other investment scams. On July 30, the DFI revealed that Wisconsin citizens lost nearly $3.55 million to financial scams and cryptocurrency frauds based on victim reports between January 2022 and June 2024.
The new investment fraud tracking system relies on consumer complaints to gather critical threat information and alert the public "to make it harder for criminals to defraud more investors".
