U.S. presidential candidate Kamala Harris is said to be considering choosing Michigan Senator Gary Peters as her 2024 running mate. Peters is interested in the position and is currently trying to rally support from fellow Democrats to run for vice president.
According to Stand With Crypto, a nonprofit political advocacy group, Peters is "strongly opposed to cryptocurrencies." The nonprofit noted that Senator Peters co-sponsored the Digital Asset Laundering Act in 2023, but also mentioned his support for repealing SAB-121, which requires banks to hold digital assets on behalf of customers, recording them as liabilities on their balance sheets.
