The Central Bank of the Philippines (BSP) plans to launch a wholesale central bank digital currency (CBDC) by 2029. The BSP's CBDC plan is nearing completion of a proof-of-concept. "It's an innovative payment instrument," said the BSP deputy governor. "It's a brand new thing and we have to make sure we can offer it and operate it."
