Members of the U.S. House of Representatives voted in favor of legislation to establish a working group to study the illicit use of digital assets.
The House majority approved the Fintech Protection Act by voice vote. The bill, introduced by Representatives Zach Nunn and Jim Himes in April 2023, seeks to address the problem of how "rogue states and foreign nations" use cryptocurrencies to evade sanctions by having members of multiple federal agencies coordinate their efforts.
"This bipartisan bill will help ensure America is prepared to address security risks and prevent illegal money laundering while protecting consumer choice for all Americans, both of which we must do to ensure the long-term integrity of digital assets," said Representative Nunn.
The US House of Representatives has passed the Fintech Protection Act against the illegal use of cryptocurrencies.
