7月13日讯，哈马斯官员表示，在汗尤尼斯袭击中遇难的都是平民，以军的袭击是严重升级。对汗尤尼斯的袭击显示以色列并不想达成停火协议。此前，哈马斯的媒体办公室发布声明称，以色列袭击加沙汗尤尼斯至少造成100名巴勒斯坦人死伤。而据以色列军方电台报道，以军对汗尤尼斯的打击的目标是哈马斯军事首领穆罕默德·迪夫，另一名哈马斯指挥官拉法·萨拉梅也在旁。
