The legal team of Roman Storm, the developer of the cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash, filed a motion on Friday to dismiss criminal charges of conspiracy to launder money and violate sanctions. The motion claimed that North Korean hackers and other organizations had used Tornado Cash to launder money, and Roman Storm did not cooperate with these organizations, but only released code that anyone could use. The Tornado Cash tool can be used to mask the source and destination of cryptocurrency transfers, but it is different from money laundering.
