Majdi Shammas, the manager of UFC fighter Khamzat Chimaev, said that Chimaev was not involved in the promotion of SMASH emoji coins and that all decisions were made by Shammas himself. Shammas apologized that he only allowed the team to shoot one promotion video.
Blockchain investigator ZachXBT accused the SMASH team of buying 78 per cent of the supply at launch in an attempt to "pump up shipments". ZachXBT disputed Shammas' claims, saying Chimaev had published two related posts.
SMASH is the latest celebrity meme coin to be accused of "pulling up shipments".
