Employees of the Paraguayan National Electricity Authority (ANDE) have been accused of being directly involved in the establishment of illegal bitcoin mining farms in Paraguay. The head of the National Electricity Authority, Felix Sosa, clarified that the agency's internal audit department is conducting a verification and organizational investigation of the organization. All relevant information will be submitted to the state prosecutor's office for further investigation.
However, Sosa said that NEC employees were no longer responsible for the execution of electrical connections some time ago, and instead delegated this function to third-party contractors. ANDE has been battling illegal bitcoin mining connections since December, having cut off more than 70 farms that were pumping unmetered electricity directly from the grid.
