According to Alex Thorn, head of research at crypto asset manager Galaxy Digital, the vast majority of creditors he spoke to said they would be paid in kind, in cryptocurrency rather than fiat. They would also hold the assets primarily. In addition, many of the top holders of ownership of Mt. Gox assets are well-known in the bitcoin community, including early bitcoin investors Roger Ver, Blockstream co-founders Adam Back and Greg Maxwell, and Bruce Fenton, former executive director of the Bitcoin Foundation. Alex Thorn said that based on conversations with institutional investors who will be paid, "we don't think this group will do a lot of selling". However, Glover, managing director of Barclays, disagreed, arguing that after years of waiting, creditors could still engage in a significant sell-off, and they have the opportunity to lock in huge gains, "some people will obviously choose to take the money and run".
