Followers flock to Chewy and Petco after retail "Big Brother" Gill posts dog photos

Followers of Keith Gill (also known as the "growling kitten"), a US retail investor, flocked to pet products companies Chewy and Petco after posting a photo of a dog on the social media platform X. Chewy's shares are up nearly 3 per cent to around $30, peaking at $39.10, after rising as much as 25 per cent and trading by the daily limit. Chewy was founded by Ryan Cohen, the former chief executive of GameStop and an investor in Bed Bath & Beyond. Petco's shares surged as high as $3.74.
