The YouTube channel of the news arm of the Seven Network, a major Australian broadcaster, has been hijacked with videos showing deepfake Elon Musk cryptocurrency scams. 7News' YouTube channel has been renamed to carmaker Tesla and shows artificial intelligence-generated fake videos of the company's CEO saying he is giving away cryptocurrency.
As of this writing, a total of about 150,000 people have watched the three fake Musk live broadcasts on Channel 7News. It is not clear how many viewers were bots in order to increase audience ratings.
