On June 27th, Robinson Burkey, co-founder of the Wormhole Foundation, shared some of the progress made since the launch of W Airdrop in the past March, mentioning that the anti-witch work through Allium for more than 5 months has been successful.
After combing through addresses to prevent witch attacks, 400,000 wallets from 26 different ecosystems were eligible for airdrops. Since Wormhole has been running for more than 3 years, there is a lot of data to process, which took about 4 months. So far, the team has processed 265,476 airdrop claims.
"I think the best airdrops are the ones that users don't expect," Burkey concluded. "However, I don't think we can go back to that simple era of having to enter points campaigns and witch wars. Points campaigns are like a tacit understanding between the protocol and'new users', that airdrop farming is acceptable."
The question then becomes whether the protocol works well for farmers. I personally support the points program because they reduce the workload of the protocol team (i.e. reduce the time associated with anti-witch work).
