Rep. Mike Flood, R-Nebraska, pushed for cryptocurrency policy reform in Congress, successfully pushing through two important pieces of legislation. Flood's co-sponsor of the 21st Century Financial Innovation and Technology Act (FIT21) and the repeal of Securities and Exchange Commission Rule SAB-121 received a historic vote in May, winning unexpected bipartisan support.
Flood entered Congress through a special election in 2022, and despite his junior credentials, his extensive experience in the Nebraska Legislature has led him to focus on the cryptocurrency space. He emphasized that cryptocurrencies are appealing to younger generations and wants to ensure that the state plays an important role in cryptocurrency regulation.
Flood also mentioned that Rep. French Hill and Warren Davidson play an important role in digital asset policymaking. He wants to pass FIT21 and the stablecoin bill in the next Congress to ensure rules don't stifle innovation and advance legislation on artificial intelligence and cyber security.
