The Kenya National Police Service Criminal Investigation Institute (DCI) released an official statement on June 14, 2024, announcing that it had dropped its investigation into Worldcoin.
The statement is an official response to a request for an update on the status of the investigation filed by Worldcoin lawyers in May 2024. DCI noted that Kenya's Public Prosecution Service has agreed and ordered the closure of the Worldcoin case and that the police will take no further action.
Following the investigation, the Kenyan police advised Worldcoin to ensure commercial registration in the country and to obtain appropriate licensing and coordination from the Data Protection Commission and the Kenya Communications Authority. At the same time, the police also advised Worldcoin to conduct rigorous inspections and sign legal contracts for all third-party vendors in Kenya.
