Kunal Bhasin, co-head of digital assets at KPMG Canada, said that when more opportunities arise, institutional investors will buy shares in high-value commercial real estate tokenized by blockchain. Bhasin said that tokenization could change the owners of large commercial buildings, which have historically been limited to deep-pocketed real estate and pension fund managers. The technology could allow institutional investors, such as family offices, to own part of Toronto's shopping malls, Eaton Centre and other large buildings.
Commercial real estate tokenization can actually achieve this. Bhasin predicts that this will become one of the largest institutional use cases in the cryptocurrency industry.
