A proposal to natively deploy Aave's GHO stablecoin on other blockchains is now live for a governance vote. The initiative aims to improve the liquidity, accessibility, and cross-chain interoperability of the GHO stablecoin. The deployment will leverage the Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), which uses lock/burn and release/mint mechanisms for bridging. Ownership of the bridging contract will be transferred to the Aave DAO, enabling it to manage liquidity flow limits, interest rates, and risk parameters. The GHO can borrow on Aave V3 with any collateral.
So far, users have minted more than 85 million GHOs. StAAVE holders can also enjoy a 30% discount on GHO lending rates. The voting period ends on June 21.
