Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan said interest-rate decisions will likely have a smaller impact on Bitcoin over the next five years than they have over the past 15 years. According to ChainCatcher, he said Bitcoin has existed through large rate swings from 0% to 2.5%, 0% to 5%, and 3.5%, but future changes may be milder, with CME expecting rates to rise by only 50 basis points over the next year.

Hougan said a Federal Reserve led by Warsh could look more like the small, incremental adjustments of the mid-1990s Greenspan era than the patterns seen under Bernanke and Powell in recent years. If that proves true, he said the smaller scale of rate changes would weaken their effect on Bitcoin, while rates would still matter and other factors would become more important.
