According to CNBC, eBay and several former executives agreed to pay nearly $56 million to settle a Massachusetts couple’s civil case over a harassment and stalking scheme targeting Ina and David Steiner. The settlement includes about $46.1 million from eBay, $2 million from former CEO Devin Wenig, $500,000 from eBay’s former senior vice president of operations and $50,000 from the company’s former chief communications officer. The Steiners said they were subjected to a 2019 “terror campaign” meant to stop their reporting on eCommercebytes, a site followed by online sellers. eBay said the agreement “fulfills our efforts to make things right” and said the conduct was wrong, reprehensible and not representative of its culture.
