According to Axios, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear demanded in a letter that Sen. Mitch McConnell verbally address constituents and show he can serve or resign his seat, as questions mount over the 84-year-old Republican's capacity after more than 40 days out of public view. Beshear also said he sent the letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and urged him to investigate McConnell's fitness for office. The letter was dated Monday and marks the second time Beshear has asked McConnell's office for health updates. McConnell is recovering from a June fall, and Congress' physician said Monday that he has undergone strenuous physical therapy and rehabilitation, with childhood polio playing a significant role in his mobility. McConnell said in his latest statement that he is still working to return to his full schedule in the Senate and Kentucky.
