PayPal reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.38 in the second quarter, topping analysts' estimate of $1.27, while total payment volume reached $486.4 billion, also above market expectations. According to ChainCatcher, the company raised its 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance to $5.38, up from the prior level.

PayPal did not comment on a previous reported takeover offer of about $60 per share from private equity firm Advent and payments rival Stripe. New CEO Enrique Lores, who took office in March, has reorganized the company's business lines and plans to cut about 20% of the workforce over the next two to three years.
