Boeing Reports Wider-Than-Expected Q2 Loss on Air Force One Charges

According to CNBC, Boeing reported a bigger-than-expected second-quarter loss after taking a $280 million charge on its delayed Air Force One program, while still expecting the first delivery in 2028. The company posted adjusted loss per share of 76 cents versus the 30-cent loss expected by analysts surveyed by LSEG, on revenue of $24.56 billion compared with $24.25 billion expected. Revenue rose 8% from a year earlier, commercial aircraft deliveries climbed 14% to 171 planes, and free cash flow came in at $631 million versus the $177 million cash burn analysts expected. Boeing said it ramped up production of its 737 Max airplanes to 47 a month, with further increases planned, and CEO Kelly Ortberg said in a note to staff that the company is making progress on development programs and is focused on safety, quality and on-time performance.
