UK Pledges Stone Cloak Electronic Jamming Tech to Help Ukraine Drones

According to Lianhe Zaobao, British Prime Minister Burnham met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the first time on Monday, July 27, at a naval base in Portsmouth and pledged to provide Ukraine with a new electronic jamming technology called Stone Cloak to help protect drones used by Ukrainian forces on the battlefield. The British prime minister said the UK stands with Ukraine against Russia and vowed to supply the latest domestically developed jamming technology. Downing Street said Stone Cloak is a military electronic jammer about the size of a tablet that can be mounted on drones to disrupt Russian air defenses from tracking and locking onto them, and said the UK has already delivered thousands of the devices to Ukraine. It added that after deployment and possible production in Ukraine, the technology would be folded into Britain’s next-generation long-range precision strike capability. Burnham and Zelensky also met about 200 Ukrainian military personnel who have spent the past three weeks in Britain taking part in a maritime security and mine countermeasures exercise aimed at preparing for future missions in the Black Sea. Downing Street said Britain’s support for Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022 has totaled GBP 25 billion, including GBP 16 billion in direct military aid. Zelensky said he and Burnham discussed joint development of defense-industrial production and said the two countries could achieve more in drones and other technologies. Zelensky is due to visit Washington on Tuesday for a White House meeting with US President Donald Trump, where he said talks will focus first on anti-ballistic missile defense and strategic cooperation.
