Barclays Q2 Pretax Profit Rises to £3.25 Billion; Lifts 2026 Revenue Target

Barclays reported second-quarter pretax profit of £3.25 billion, total income of £8.34 billion and net interest income of £3.92 billion on July 28, according to Jiemian News. The bank said return on tangible equity was 16.1% and its common equity tier 1 capital ratio stood at 14.3%. Fixed income, currencies and commodities revenue came in at £1.47 billion, equities revenue at £1.26 billion and investment banking fees at £747 million.

For the first half, Barclays paid an interim dividend of £0.059 per share, up from £0.030 a year earlier, and announced a £2.3 billion capital distribution plan that includes a £1 billion share buyback. The bank also raised its 2026 group revenue target to about £31.5 billion from about £31 billion and said it remains committed to its 2026 and 2028 financial goals, including a 2028 target of return on tangible equity above 14%.
