According to Jin10, ING economists said the Bank of England's latest forecast will show inflation approaching 3% in the second half of this year and early next year, which they said remains within the central bank's tolerance range. Their base case is that the Bank of England will stay on hold throughout 2026, with easing delayed until the next cycle. ING also said it currently expects two rate cuts starting in spring 2027, but added that this path depends on the autumn budget not delivering material fiscal stimulus. The pound has also come under pressure recently as investors remain cautious about how new Prime Minister Burnham's spending pledges will be financed.
