Natixis Investment Management Global Market Strategy Head Mabrouk Chetouane said in a report that Fed Chair Kevin Warsh is unlikely to challenge the current consensus at his second monetary policy meeting. According to Odaily, Chetouane said Warsh is unlikely to be tempted to raise rates by 25 basis points, even as bringing inflation back to target by year-end now appears nearly impossible.
Chetouane added that Warsh would not want to tighten monetary conditions in a way that risks disrupting the slow but steady improvement in the labor market, which has continued for weeks. Analysts widely expect the Federal Reserve to hold rates steady on Wednesday, while money markets are pricing in a 38% chance of a rate increase.
