China Issues Disease Control Plan Targeting 2030 Infection Risk Reduction

China's National Health Commission and six other departments jointly issued a disease prevention and control plan for the 15th Five-Year Plan period, setting six major tasks including stronger control of respiratory infectious diseases and vaccine-preventable diseases. The plan targets effective control of major infectious disease risks and a marked reduction in the harm caused by serious diseases by 2030, according to Jiemian News. 兴业证券 said innovation and international expansion remain the core theme for China's pharmaceutical sector in 2026, arguing that Chinese innovative drug developers still benefit from policy support, overseas expansion and commercialization, while BD deals and Co-Co models are helping firms speed global expansion. The brokerage also said overseas big pharma faces patent cliffs and pipeline replenishment needs, which, together with China's R&D efficiency and cost advantages, could extend the strength of Chinese drugmakers going abroad.
