据界面新闻报道，伯克利地球气候科学家Zeke Hausfather称，本轮厄尔尼诺有望成为150年来强度最大的一次；在厄尔尼诺与人为升温共同作用下，2027年全球平均气温很可能较工业化前水平升高1.7℃，突破《巴黎协定》1.5℃警戒线。世界气象组织预计，赤道中东太平洋海温将显著升高，厄尔尼诺将在北半球秋季继续加强。中国国家海洋环境预报中心也判断，今年秋冬季将形成一次超强厄尔尼诺事件，未来数月升温幅度较大概率使2026年成为史上最热年份。
