Mitch McConnell still not cleared to return to work after fall

According to CNBC, Sen. Mitch McConnell is recovering from a debilitating fall last month but has not yet been medically cleared to return to work, more than six weeks after he was last seen in public. The Office of the Attending Physician said doctors are meeting with the 84-year-old Kentucky Republican every day at a rehab facility to discuss his rehabilitation care, and that he remains in physical therapy multiple times a day to rebuild strength and lower the risk of future falls. The office said McConnell is not yet cleared to leave the rehab facility and return to the office, and noted that his childhood polio remains a significant factor in his mobility. His office also shared a written statement in which he apologized for missing an annual Kentucky picnic next Saturday.
