Saudi Arabia Says Air Defenses Intercept Drones Targeting Oil Facilities

Saudi Arabia said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed several drones that tried to attack oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh on July 27, 2026, according to Jiemian News. Defense Ministry spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the attacks were launched from Iraq by Iran-backed militia groups. The Saudi Foreign Ministry condemned the attack in a statement the same day and urged the Iraqi government to prevent its territory from being used for attacks against Saudi Arabia.
