Wan Guo Gold said a partial landslide occurred in the non-operating area of its Solomon Islands Gold Ridge mine, and that all projects under construction were unaffected. According to Jin10, the company said the incident happened at about 12:45 a.m. on July 27, 2026, Solomon Islands time, at the northwest edge of the North No. 1 pit in the open-pit mine, in the non-operating first bench.
The company said Gold Ridge Mining Ltd. had already implemented safety control measures before the incident, including closing off and cordoning the affected area and carrying out safety warning controls. It said no casualties occurred and no equipment or property losses were caused. Wan Guo Gold also said mining operations at the Gold Ridge gold mine were continuing as normal.
