According to CNBC, Jefferies upgraded General Motors and Ford Motor to buy from hold and raised its price target on GM to $99 from $90 and on Ford to $17.50 from $14.50. Analyst Philippe Houchois said GM's second-quarter results, which included an earnings and revenue beat and a 2026 guidance increase, supported the move, while Ford is expected to start rebuilding momentum after what he described as a second-quarter low point. Jefferies said GM's full-year pricing outlook was raised to 0.5%, that the company made progress on warranty costs, and that U.S. policy conditions have put earnings on a less risky path despite concerns over USMCA and oil prices. Houchois also said Ford's Q2 should mark a trough, with production set to normalize after disruptions tied to Novelis, and that management could raise guidance at the second-quarter report after the bell on Tuesday.
