KB Financial Group said it has established the KB Kookmin Growth Unicorn Scale-up Fund, sized at 150 billion won, with capital contributed entirely by group subsidiaries and managed by KB Securities PE Growth Investment Division. According to ChainCatcher, the fund will invest in companies in AI, semiconductors, secondary batteries, aerospace, mobility, robotics, and biopharmaceuticals.
The decision was finalized at the Fourth Productive Finance Consultative Meeting on July 24. KB Financial also outlined financing support measures aligned with the government’s three major super-projects, covering semiconductor investment, power infrastructure investment, and support for physical AI companies and AI data centers. It also plans to use its CIB center to identify local innovative small and medium-sized enterprises and shift corporate evaluation toward technology strength and future growth potential rather than only financial statements and historical performance.
