Iran Says Ukrainian Attack on Cargo Ship Killed Crew Member

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on social media late on July 26 local time that Ukrainian forces attacked an Iranian cargo ship, killing one crew member, and called the move a blatant violation of the UN Charter. He said he had spoken separately with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and made clear that the Ukrainian action “must not go unanswered,” according to Jiemian News. Iran’s Foreign Ministry had earlier said a cargo ship in the Caspian Sea was attacked by Ukraine on July 25 and then exploded.
