Iran, EU Top Diplomat Discuss Regional Tensions After Ukrainian Attack on Iranian Vessel

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on July 25 to discuss regional and international developments, according to Iran's Foreign Ministry and Jiemian News reported. Araghchi criticized European countries for what he called an irresponsible approach to regional issues and said the EU should bear responsibility for the Ukrainian attack on an Iranian merchant ship because it supports Kyiv. Kallas said she was concerned about any expansion of conflict zones and stressed the importance of continued consultations between the EU and Iran.
