House Democrats Blast DCCC Over $514,000 Arizona Primary Spending

According to Axios, House Democrats are criticizing the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee after it spent more than $500,000 backing Marlene Galán-Woods in Arizona's 1st District, where former Arizona state Rep. Amish Shah was leading the Democratic primary by about seven percentage points with 87% of votes counted Wednesday evening. The DCCC's $514,000 joint ad buy with Galán-Woods followed its June endorsement of her in the party's Red to Blue program, and lawmakers including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Delia Ramirez, Rep. Susie Lee, Rep. Melanie Stansbury and Rep. Ro Khanna said the party should focus its money on general elections instead of intervening in primaries. The dispute comes after similar DCCC-backed efforts failed in California's 22nd District and Maine's 2nd District, where the committee also spent roughly $250,000 in joint ads, according to AdImpact and Axios.
