Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang posted his first message on X and shared a public letter titled "Open Weight and U.S. AI Leadership" signed by more than 20 technology companies and institutions. According to Odaily, the letter says open-weight models can expand access to the AI economy, strengthen market competition, and give users more control.
The signatories include Meta, Microsoft, Andreessen Horowitz, Hugging Face, IBM, Mistral AI, Palantir, Perplexity, Mozilla, and Y Combinator. The letter says open-weight models carry risks, but they should not be restricted through bans and should instead be used to improve AI safety and cybersecurity capabilities. Huang said, "The world needs frontier closed models and frontier open models."
