U.S. Uses B-1 Bomber To Strike Iran Targets As Conflict Escalates

According to Axios, the U.S. military used a B-1 long-range bomber on Tuesday to strike Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets in Iran, marking the first B-1 mission since fighting with Iran resumed 12 days ago. U.S. officials said the bomber launched from an airbase in the U.K., and U.S. Central Command said its assets targeted Iranian military operations centers, maritime capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities and military logistics infrastructure to try to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The report said it was unclear what the B-1 struck and whether the mission was more effective than earlier attacks. It also said President Trump is still considering a return to major combat operations against Iran, with U.S. and Israeli officials saying that could happen within days.
