The Insurance Authority said first-quarter provisional statistics showed life insurance new policy premiums rose 51.1% year on year to HK$141.1 billion, according to Ming Pao.
New policy premiums from non-linked individual life insurance business increased 50.2% to HK$135.3 billion. Within that, participating business rose 53.7% to HK$125.7 billion, while other business climbed to HK$9.7 billion. New policy premiums from investment-linked individual business rose 77.2% to HK$5.7 billion. Insurers issued about 28,000 qualified deferred annuity policies in the quarter, with premiums of HK$1.8 billion, accounting for 1.3% of total individual business.
